Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Normally, this time of year, AAA would be offering up their Fourth of July travel forecast.  But with coronavirus changing travel patterns, AAA instead took a broad look at travel for the summer.  AAA Mid-Atlantic says overall, summer travel is expected to be down 17%.

Air travel this summer is also expected to be down 74%.  However, car travel will only be down a little over two percent.  Spokesman Morgan Dean says people see their cars and RVs as extensions of  their homes that they can control.

Dean says travel planning is also reduced this year.  People are waiting until the last minute to decide because they cannot be sure of what the restrictions are at their destination.
