Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - AAA Mid-Atlantic is forecasting a nearly four percent increase in travel by Virginians for the Memorial Day holiday.  The travel, insurance, and advocacy agency expects nearly 1.2 million people to go further than 50 miles, and nearly 90% are expected to drive.

AAA Spokesman Tammy Arnette credits a good economy and relatively low gas prices.  Virginia has the 10th lowest prices in the country, according to Arnette.

Nationally, the number of people travelling is expected to be the highest since 2005.
