Suspect Also Charged After Allegedly Breaking Into Cars

Chesterfield, VA (wrva.com) - Chesterfield Police have charged a a 24-year old man for shooting at people he believed were breaking into a car on his property, as well as an 18-year old man believed to be breaking into that car.  Police say one of the shots fired by DaJohn Williams, of Willowbranch Drive, struck a nearby home.

Police say Williams told them he fired at two men he believed were breaking into a car at his residence.   Officers did charge Yamil Perez, 18, of the 5200 block of Appleleaf Court, with two counts of unlawful entry of a vehicle and one count of petit larceny.  Williams was charged with reckless handling of a fire arm.

The incident remains under investigation.  Police say Perez is the only person they believe was breaking into vehicles.
