Midlothian, VA. (wrva.com) -- The Chesterfield School Board is expected to vote next week to amend their construction plans, and add a new elementary school in the western portion of the county to the mix.  The school, which would go in the Magnolia Green subdivision (on land already approved for the purpose), would be completed by fall 2020, and cost around $36 million.

The district says the school is badly needed in a growing area of the county.  School Board member Rob Thompson points out nearby Winterpock and Grange Hall Elementary Schools have trailers.  The timeline would allow the area to redistrict all at once, rather than doing it several times over a period of years.

The Board of Supervisors would get a chance to weigh in after the School Board gives their approval.
