Midlothian, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) -  Chesterfield Police say they have arrested a suspect in the killing of a man at a far-Western Chesterfield Wawa.  The arrest occurred after a short chase.

Police say they were called to the Wawa around 7:13 pm Tuesday for a report of a man who was shot.  Robert S. Gooch IV, 34, of the 7700 block of Hampton Green Drive in Chesterfield, was transported with life-threatening injuries to a local hospital where he later died.

Officers determined a suspect, and arrested George Thomas Buschmann, 34, after a short chase.  Police say the investigation indicates that Buschmann and the victim didn't know each other, and police continue to investigate a motive for the shooting.

(Chesterfield Police)

Buschmann has been charged with first-degree murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, grand larceny of a motor vehicle, felony eluding, possession of a firearm after being involuntarily committed, and transporting a firearm while being subject to a protective order.  He is being held in the Chesterfield County Jail.

Cosby High School, which is nearby, was locked down for a time following the shooting.  Police are asking anyone with additional information to please call them.
