Charge of Indecent Liberties With Student

(CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va.) -- Chesterfield Police have arrested an charged a Chesterfield County Public Schools teacher with two counts of taking indecent liberties with a child in a custodial relationship.

30 year old Joshua Alford was arrested on Monday, December 16. Police say Alford, while a teacher at Manchester High School, had an inappropriate relationship with a juvenile female student. The investigation indicates Alford met and began communicating with the victim during the 2016-2017 school year; later, during the 2018-2019 school year, he had sexual contact with the victim.

Alford, of the 4300 block of Jalee Drive in Chesterfield, was released on bond on Monday, and is set to appear in Chesterfield County, Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court on Friday, December 20 at 9 a.m.

Alford also served as running backs coach this season for the Manchester High School varsity football team.
