Chesterfield, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Chesterfield Police say a suspect is dead after an hours-long standoff and shootout on Lansmill Drive (off Jefferson Davis Highway, not far from Swift Creek Mill Theater).  The incident happened around three this morning, after police entered the home, following 11 hours of negotiation.

Police say they originally went to the residence to serve warrants for violating a protective order.  A woman was also in the home, and came outside about five hours into the incident.  Police say at that point, the man stopped speaking to them.

Chesterfield officers say just before 3am, they then entered the home, and found the suspect in a storage area.  Police then say the man allegedly fired on them, and police shot back, killing the suspect.  He has not been identified.  Police also had obtained stalking and protective order violation warrants for the man during the standoff.  No officers were injured.
