Chesterfield, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Two days into Chesterfield's return to school for middle and high school students, the Chesterfield SchoolBoard heard criticism from a number of teachers and parents who believe the decision was a mistake.  The District returned kids based on the recommendation of the District's Health Committee, which utilized secondary health metrics to justify a return.  The decision was also a split.

Teacher Todd Gasparello, a math teacher at Carver Middle, says he was embarassed by the decision.  He says the county is not prioritizing safety.  Other teachers and parents echoed his thoughts.

Students are returning two days a week.  Chesterfield ssays safety is its top priority and they are working with teachers to make them feel comfortable.  Teachers also said the district is experiencing shortages because of the number of teachers leaving the district because of the return decision.
