Charlottesville, Va. ( - Vandals spraypainted both the Stonewall Jackson and Robert E. Lee Statues in Charlottesville this past weekend.  The vandalism comes days after Charlottesville City Council lost its last remaining argument in an attempt to have the statues moved.  The city had argued they violated equal protection rights, having previously lost an argument over whether they were protected war memorials.

The vandalism featured the number 1619 and the Iron Front Symbol.  The number is likely a reference to the year the first enslaved Africans were brought to Virginia.  The symbol, which features three arrows, has been adopted by anti-fascist groups.

No arrests have been made.
