Washington D.C. _  Virginia Senator Mark Warner's office Sunday announced cancellation of an in-person meeting with Virginians participating in the program of Opportunity, Alliance, Reentry (OAR) of Richmond, an organization providing reentry resources for previously incarcerated individuals.  A spokesman for Warner says it's due to Covid-19 exposure concerns.

A spokesperson issued the following statement:  "Senator Warner has learned that a friend of one of his children who recently came into contact with the Warner family later tested positive for COVID-19. While Senator Warner and the Warner family have since tested negative and are experiencing no symptoms, out of an abundance of caution and in accordance with guidance provided by the Capitol physician, Senator Warner has chosen to cancel his planned events around the Commonwealth and instead will hold meetings this week by phone and videoconference."

Warner was scheduled to talk to participants in the reentry program about their experience in the criminal justice system.  He was also slated to have e a conversation about systemic racism and police reform.
