Pregnancy Center Vandalized As Abortion Debate Rages

Culpeper Police Investigate Spray Paint, Broken Window

Culpeper, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) -  Culpeper detectives say they are investigating vandalism that occurred at the Culpeper Pregnancy Center sometime overnight Thursday into Friday.  The center and its sign were spray-painted, and a window was broken.

The center exists to provide counseling to pregnant women, and does not offer the procedure.  In fact, the center staff oppose abortion.

The vandalism comes as the General Assembly and the Governor continue to be engaged in a firestorm over a now-dead bill concerning third-trimester abortions.  Delegate Kathy Tran (D-Fairfax) had proposed loosening the restrictions on the procedure, which is only available if three doctors determine the mother's health is at risk.  Tran proposed taking it down to one doctor, and loosening the medical finding requirement.

Tran has told reporters she continues to face threats over her bill.
