Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Virginia State Police say eight people died on the highways over the Memorial Day holiday, down three from 2019.  The number comes despite the fact travel was at record lows because of the coronavirus pandemic.

State Police say they are also concerned because DUI arrests and reckless driving citations were basically on pace with 2019.  Once again, traffic levels were much lighter this year.

State Police are asking people to slow down on the roads, as it appears less traffic has lead to increased speeds.
