FBI Identifies Hiker Killed Along Appalachian Trail

Suspect Faces Mental Evaluation

Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - The FBI and the U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Virginia have now identified the hiker killed on the Appalachian Trail over the weekend.  Ronald S. Sanchez Jr., 43, of Oklahoma, died of injuries sustained during an alleged violent attack that occurred along the Appalachian Trial on May 11, 2019.

James L. Jordan 30, of West Yarmouth, Massachusetts, is charged with one count of murder and one count of assault with the intent to murder.

Jordan has been ordered to undergo a mental evaluation.
