Funeral Today for Army Captain

Killed in Afghanistan by Bomb

Henrico, VA (Newsradio 1140wrva.com) -- Governor Northam has ordered state flags to fly at half-staff in honor of a Virginia Army Captain whose funeral is today in Glen Allen. The memorial service for Andrew Patrick Ross will be at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Glen Allen. 

Ross and two other American soldiers were killed when their vehicle was hit by a roadside bomb in Afghanistan near the city of Ghazni last month. The 29 year-old seven year veteran lived in Lexington but his parents live in the Richmond area. 

Ross was posthumously award the Purple Heart and a second Bronze Star. He was on his second overseas tour of duty. Also killed were Army Sgt. Eric Emond from Washington State and Air Force Sgt. Dyland Elchin from Pennsylvania. Ross is also survived by his wife.
