Goochland Deputy Arrested in Powhatan Charged with Rape & Then Fired

Goochland fires deputy after his arrest on rape charge

Richmond, VA (WRVA) -

A former Goochland Sheriffs Deputy has been arrested.

The Powhatan Sheriff's Office says 47-year-old Jason Anderson was arrested and charged with the assault and battery of a family member and rape.  Anderson was arrested Monday morning
(11/19) at his residence in Powhatan County. 

According to the Powhatan County Sheriff's Office;"The Goochland County Sheriff’s Office was notified of his arrest shortly thereafter and immediately began a concurrent investigation which resulted in Anderson’s termination," 

Goochland County Sheriff James Agnew responded to Anderson's arrest by issuing a statement that read in part; “We are all disturbed, disgusted and angry after hearing about Anderson's’s actions. we are in full support of the Powhatan Sheriff’s Office investigation into these charges.”

Anderson is being held without bond and is scheduled to be arraigned on Wednesday, November 21.
