Richmond, Va. (newsradiowrva.com) - Hurricane Florence has become a major hurricane in the Atlantic Ocean, reaching Cat 3 status.  NBC12 Meteorologist Andrew Freiden says while there is no certainty, the storm could potentially threaten the East Coast of the United States next week,

Currently, the storm is a greater threat for the island of Bermuda, which is in the storm's projected path.  Freiden says Virginians should start thinking about preparations for the storm, just in case.

Tropical Storm Gordon came ashore in Mississippi and Alabama overnight, and will be a rainmaker for the Gulf Coast as well as Arkansas, Missouri, and Alabama.
