Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - It is possible Richmond could see rain and wind associated with Hurricane Michael on Thursday and Friday.  The storm is currently a hurricane in the Gulf of Mexico, headed on a collision course with the Florida Panhandle.

NBC12 Meteorologist Andrew Freiden says the risks for Richmond would be tropical storm force winds and some heavy rain.  He says tornadoes are a possibility, but unlikely, given Richmond would actually be on the northern edge of the storm.

Freiden also says it is possible the storm takes a more southern track and misses us all together.  He does have some fear the storm will drop additional heavy rains on North Carolina, where floodwaters still have not receded from Hurricane Florence
