HENRICO CO. Va. -- Virginia State Police say they responded to an accident about 9:45 this morning on westbound I-64 at the 198 mile marker near the airport exit.

A Freightliner tractor-trailer hauling several thousand pounds of marble slab lost its load as the result of an accident.

Police say that the preliminary investigation reveals that the driver of the tractor-trailer was braking for a slowing vehicle in front of him. The straps that secured the load broke, which forced the load to shift and fall onto the roadway. There was damage sustained to the cab of the truck but no reports of injury.

VDOT assisted in cleanup of the roadway and the driver was charged with failure to secure his load.
