Man Arrested After Hostage Incident

Victims Suffers Non-Life Threatening Gunshot Wound

Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Richmond Police say a 66-year old man has been charged with attempted murder and use of a firearm, after a shooting and brief hostage situation this morning along Dinwiddie Avenue.

Police say at approximately 11:29 a.m., officers received a call for an armed person along the  2100 block of Dinwiddie Avenue. At around 11:52 a.m., officers received an additional call for a person shot at the same location. When police arrived they says they found Clarence Gregory, 66, inside a residence holding another male hostage.

Police say after an attempt to negotiate with Gregory, the SWAT team made entry and Gregory was taken into custody. They also provided medical attention to the victim prior to being transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The dispute, according to reports, was over rental property.
