Cat Also Killed In Oakland Avenue Blaze

Henrico, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Henrico Firefighters say a man was seriously burned, and a cat killed, during a fire this afternoon along Oakland Avenue.  Captain Rob Rowley says when they arrived at the home, the man, in his 60s, had already gotten out but was suffering burns.  He was taken to VCU Hospital.

Rowley says they actually made quick work of the fire itself.  He says a lack of a working smoke detector likely contributed to the man's burns.

A neighbor actually called in the fire, right around 12:40pm.
