October 23, 2018 - 1:56 pm

Midlothian, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Despite heavy sales, and a record jackpot, the MegaMillion amount will not increase ahead of tonight's darwing.  Lottery officials have determined the jackpot will stay at $1.6 billion.  If no one wins, the Friday jackpot will stand at a record two billion.

At the Midlothian retailer where Virginia Lottery officials made the announcement, there was a steady stream of players around lunchtime.  Many said they would use the money to pay down debt, or to invest.  There was a mixture of both players who play all the time, and players who get in when the jackpot gets extremely large.

Tonight's drawing is at 11pm.  Ticket sales cut off at 10:45pm.  Lottery officials expect the heaviest sales to occur between five and seven pm when people are getting off work.
