Protesters charged with trespassing at Lee Monument

Richmond, VA _  The Richmond Police Department arrested six individuals during protests at the Lee Monument overnight charging most with Trespassing  and/or Unlawful Assembly.  One officer was treated and released for a head injury sustained in a paintball shooting.  A 17-year-old juvenile has been charged in that assault:

o   Trespassing - misdemeanor
o   Obstruction of Justice – misdemeanor
 
·       Christopher Anders, 28, W/M, Richmond
o   Unlawful Assembly – misdemeanor
 
·       Jay Skinner, 27, W/M, Richmond
o   Unlawful Assembly – misdemeanor

The first Unlawful Assembly Announcement was made at 10:25 p.m. to the crowd gathered inside the circle at the Lee Monument after an officer was shot several minutes earlier by a paintball. Several other officers were subsequently shot by paintballs and struck by other hard objects. One of those officers was transported to the hospital – treated and released - for a possible head injury/concussion.
 
One RPD officer deployed pepper spray. No RPD officer deployed tear gas.
