One Confirmed Tornado Near Smith Mountain Lake

Buildings Damaged As First Round Of Storms Rolls Through

Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - The Virginia Department of Emergency Management confirms one tornado did touch down in Franklin county, not far from Smith Mountain Lake.  Crews are still out assessing, but VDEM Spokesman Jeff Caldwell says some buildings were damaged.

Caldwell says they also received reports of flooding out in the western part of the Commonwealth as well.

At this point, there have been no reports of injuries.  There have also been two trees that have fallen in eastern portions of Richmond and Henrico County.
