(WRVA RICHMOND, Va.) -- Virginia Democrat Senator Mark Warner says that he's optimistic a new Coronavirus Relief package could be agreed to by the end of the week.

Warner says it's important since temporary furloughs that have occurred over the past few months have become permanent job losses.

As part of the bill, Warner wants to see increased funding for education and state and local governments. He would also like to see more funding for the health care system for increased virus testing.

Warner says passage of the bill is important because if there is no deal reached, the economy could, in his words, fall off a cliff.

Warner adds that he is coming up with legislation that would support minority-owned business communities. He says that he has Republican co-sponsors and it has broad bi-partisan support.
