Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Among the various rallies on the first day of the General Assembly session, a group from Charlottesville came to Richmond to demand local control of Confederate Monuments.  The rally included people from Hampton Roads and Northern Virginia.  It came just two days after Richmond made a similar request of the Assembly.

As it stands right now, localities cannot move or get rid of their monuments, as they fall under state control.  Republicans opposed any shift, but new Democratic majority appears more likely to consider it.

Two of Richmond's monuments were recently spray-painted.
