Some Rain, Wind With Florence

While VDEM Starts To Worry About Southwest Virginia

Richmond, Va. (newsradiowrva.com) -- Richmond should only receive around two to three inches of rain from Hurricane Florence, according to NBC12 Meteorologist Andrew Freiden.  Freiden also says the entire weekend will not be a washout, as we will see bands of rain, followed by dry periods.

Freiden says winds here should remain below tropical-strom strength.  However, he says Southside will see more rain, and stronger winds, the closer you get to North Carolina.

The Virginia Department of Emergency Management, meanwhile, is turning its gaze a few days away.  The current track of the storm takes its remants eventually over Southwest Virginia.  VDEM Spokesman Jeff Caldwell says they are concerned about flooding there, although the area was already preparing for flooding with the storm, and resources are already in the state to help.
