May 28, 2019 - 11:44 am

Richmond, Va. ( - Richmond Police say they have received some information, but are still looking for tips and help, as they work to solve the killing of nine-year old Markiya Dickson.  Dickson was attending a cookout in Carter Jones Park, when she and an 11-year old boy were struck by gunfire.  The 11-year old was taken to the hospital and is expected to survive.

Interim Police Chief William Smith says they believe the shots were fired from the area near the basketball courts and the skate park.  The location is some distrance from where the cookout was taking place.  Smith says off-duty officers were working the cookout, but they also were some distance away.

Mayor Levar Stoney called the shooting "senseless."
