Richmond, Va. ( - Richmond police will not go into detail of their plans for this weekend, but say they are aware of the possibility of demonstrations and protests tied to the anniversary of the violence in Charlottesville.  Spokesman James Mercante says, however, that they have a great deal of experience in dealing with these types of events, and that people will be able to speak their piece, while officers will do what is necessary to maintain security.

Capitol Police continue to investigate vandalism that occurred to the Robert E. Lee statue last weekend, along Monument Avenue.  Previous demonstrations have occurred along Monument, where several Confederate Statues are located.

There are rallies reportedly scheduled along Monument for later in August and in September.
