Richmond To Get Some Rain

Florence Begins Trek Into Carolinas

Richmond, Va. (newsradiowrva.com) - Richmond should see around one to two inches of rain today, and two to three inches with Hurricane Florence overall.  The storm made landfall in North Carolina earlier this morning.

NBC12 Meteorologist Andrew Freiden says winds should remain below tropical-storm force levels (35 mph).  However, Freiden warns there will be storm surge of around one to two feet, as water is forced into the bay and tidal rivers.

Freiden also warns river flooding is possible next week, as Florence is expected to turn north, and drop rain in the mountains.
