Sussex, Va. (wrva.com) -  New Haven, Connecticut, Police says a man shot and killed following a Virginia State Police pursuit may be a murder suspect from their city.  Tremaine Poole, 42, was wanted for the killing of a 28-year old mother in front of her kids in May.  Poole was also a suspect in the shooting of his wife.

State Police say the pursuit began along I-95, when a trooper tried to make a traffic stop.  The officer then realized the car was reported stolen from Connecticut, and the driver continued on.  State Police say at points, the driver fired on troopers.

Eventually, the chase went off I-95 into Sussex County, where eventually, the suspect crashed his vehicle.  He then exchanged fire with troopers and was shot and killed.  A state police dog was also struck and killed as well, and the troopers involved in the incident are on administrative leave.  There was a woman in the car with the suspect who was injured, but those injuries are not considered life-threatening.
