Storms Knock Out Power to Thousands

Crews Will Be Looking to See if Tornadoes Touched Down

Richmond, VA (Newsradio 1140WRVA.com) - - Tens of thousands lost power in the Richmond area as strong storms slammed through. The overnight severe weather included heavy rain, lightning, hail and strong winds, and also about half a dozen tornado warnings were issued. Most of those were east of I-95. The National Weather Service will be checking to see if any of those touched down. 

At the peak of the storm about 38,000 were without power in the Richmond area. The storm system is blamed for at least 8 deaths across the deep South. Two children in East Texas died when a pine tree fell on car they were riding in.
