Snow And Slush In Forecast

Sunday Expected To Be A Mess

January 11, 2019 - 4:35 pm

Richmond, Va. ( -  The latest storm forecast for Richmond this weekend suggests we will see three to six inches of snow and sleet. Meteorologist Jim Duncan says some warm air aloft Sunday could lead us to seeing sleet, which would lower our accumulations but still create a driving mess.

Duncan says the forecast is tricky because of how close Richmond will be to that rain/snow line.  Areas that get sleet will have smaller totals, but colder areas will see all snow, and have higher totals.  Duncan expects that to be to the west and north of Richmond, for example, in Western Hanover.

The storm will start as flurries Saturday afternoon, with the worst weather after midnight.   Sunday will be the messiest day, with the storm wrapping up Sunday evening.
