Richmond, VA. (wrva.com) - Tropical Storm Chris won't come ashore along the East Coast, but it is bringing heavy surf and rip currents.   The storm is currently off the coast of North Carolina, and may stregthen to a hurricane as it moves to the northeast.

The surf conditions will exist up and down the coast.  NBC12 Meteorologist Ros Runner says Chris may also bring rain to some portions of the outer banks.

Beryl, which at one point was a hurricane, has since been sheared apart in the Caribbean.  Runner says there is a possiblility it could re-form in a few days, as it makes it's way to the Bahamas.
