Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - VCU will be testing its new emergency siren system Wednesday, December 5th, at noon.  Because additional sirens have been added to the system, and upgraded, the noise will now be heard throughout downtown, as compared to just limited for the most part to the VCU and MCV campuses.

VCU Emergency Preparedness Director Lori Dachille says the system was first put in over 10 years ago, and needed an upgrade.  The new system will allow the sirens to be triggered, and alerts to go out, at the same time.

Dachille says the sirens will be heard, for example, on Capitol Square.  VCU will conduct a sound propogation test during Wednesday's system test.
