Richmond, VA (wrva.com) -- The Virginia Lottery hit a record $600 million in profits for fiscal year 2018.  The total passes the old record of $588 million, set in 2016, the year of the over one billion dollar Powerball jackpot.

The lottery did not have any record mega-jackpots this year.  Lottery Spokesman John Haggerty says a lot of their record $2.1 billion in sales came from scratcher games.

All lottery profits are dedicated to education funding.  The news comes as the MegaMillions jackpot currently stands at $340 million for Friday.
