Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Virginia's unemployment rate remained at 2.8% in Janaury, the sixth straight month it remained at that rate.  The rate is the lowest it has been since April of 2001, a period of nearly 18 years.

Virginia Employment Commission Chief Economist Ann Lang says Virginia is continuing to see job growth.  In fact, the Commonwealth had the third largest job creation numbers in the country.  Lang says the growth was across most sectors as well.

The rate also is below the national average of 4%, and Virginia ranked sixth nationally.
