Richmond, Va. (newsradiowrva.com) - Virginia's unemployment rate fell three percent in August, the lowest rate in the Commonwealth since July 2007.  The rate in July 2018 was three-point-one percent.

The Virginia Employment Commission's Chief Economist Ann Lang says the rate decrease was the result of additional jobs being available, and people filling them.  The industries that shaw the most improvement included professional business services.

Virginia has the lowest unemployment in the Southeast, and is tied for 10th in the nation.
