Roanoke, Va. -- Roanoke City Schools are closed today out of an abundance of safety as police look for a marine wanted for murder in Franklin County.

Roanoke Police received a call last night that Michael Brown was spotted in the city near Patrick Henry High School. Brown is considered armed and dangerous.

He is wanted for the murder of his mother's boyfriend in Franklin County this past Saturday.

Police found an R.V. in the vicinity of Patrick Henry High School that they have urged the public to stay away from because it is leaking propane.

Police say that Brown may be seeking alternate means of transportation and may be traveling on foot in the immediate Roanoke area. Roanke Police Chief Tim Jones says that he may take public transportation, a taxi or an Uber to get where he needs to go.

Roanoke Police are asking Brown to turn himself in.
