Major Flooding Creating Headaches

Henrico's East End Hard Hit

June 22, 2018 - 8:26 am

Henrico, Va. (1140wrva.com) Heavy rain causing flash flooding in Central Virginia. The hardest hit area is the East End of Henrico where high water made roads to Richmond International Airport inaccessible. RIC spokesman Troy Bells says they closed the airport until at least 9 am. He says one report he saw showed they got 7 inches of rain since 1 am, and at one point it was coming down at a rate of 5 inches per hour.

High water closed I-64 in both directions for a time near Laburnum Ave. What appears to be a trash truck was seen floating a patch of deep water on Charles City Road. There have seen a number of water rescues as drivers got trapped. If you come across a flooded street, turn around
