Virginians Spar Over US Senate Seat

Richmond, VA (WRVA) - The two men on the ballot for the mid-term elections who wish to represent Virginia in the U.S. Senate are set to verbally spar. Current Senator Tim Kaine (D) and his Republican challenger Corey Stewart will meet in their first debate today.

The debate is sponsored by the Virginia Bar Association and takes place at the Omni Homestead Resort in Hot Springs. PBS News Personality Judy Woodruff is the moderator. The event starts at 11a.m. and is slated to last 90 minutes.

The election takes place November 6. Kaine is Virginia’s junior Senator and was the Vice Presidential candidate for democrats on the ticket with Hillary Clinton. Corey Stewart was briefly the Virginia campaign manager for President Trump’s election. He is also on the Prince William County Board of Supervisors.
