Richmond, Va. (1140wrva.com) It is Primary Day in Virginia. The most watched contest is the statewide three way race by Republicans to challenge U.S. Senator Tim Kaine, who was Hillary Clinton's running mate, in November. E.W. Jackson, Nick Freitas and Corey Stewart are hoping to win the GOP nomination.

Two Democrats are facing off to take on Republican Congressman Dave Brat in the 7th District. Abigail Spanberger and Dan Ward hope to beat the former college economics professor, who stunned the political world when he defeated incumbent Eric Cantor, seen as a rising star in the GOP.

And in another race in Central Virginia, two Republicans, Ryan McAdams and Shion Fenty, hope to win today to challenge Democrat Congressman Donald McEachin.

Polls are open until 7 pm and you need to bring a photo ID with you. There are also primaries in South Carolina, Maine, Nevada, and North Dakota.
