Chesterfiled County Police searching for suspect

(RICHMOND, Va. - wrva.com) - Authorities are searching for a wanted woman who they say hit a Chesterfield County Police Officer with a vehicle.

Capt. Jay Thornton says it happened in the 6500 block of Brookshire Drive. The officer received minor injuries and is expected to recover fully. Thornton says at about 1:10 p.m. today, police were searching for Tia Nicole Peyton, 36, who is wanted on several charges, including felony larceny.

As officers approached Peyton in the 6500 block of brookshire drive, Thornton says she fled in a car, striking one of the officers in the arm. Police say Peyton then drove away from the area.

As a result, Peyton is now charged with felony assault on police and driving while suspended. Peyton, of the 6100 block of Hokie Court, is described as a black female, about 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighing about 160 pounds. Police continue their investigation into this incident.
