In the world of social media, it's become increasingly easier to be an "overnight celebrity." Anybody can be famous for just about anything.

And in days past, fame seemed to be the thing that we all craved and envied in others. But some new studies are finding that most people today really don't want to be known by millions. In fact, they desire just the opposite.

Are the 24/7 news cycle and social media dumbing down these desires?
