House Majority Whip Rep. James Clyburn (D-SC) reportedly encouraged Democrat leaders on a conference call last week to exploit the coronavirus stimulus bill, calling it "a tremendous opportunity to restructure things to fit our vision."
According to The Hill, a source on the call, which included more than 200 members of the House Democrat caucus, reported Clyburn's statement. The congressman's comments are eerily similar to those made by Rahm Emmanuel, then the incoming chief of staff to President-elect Barack Obama, during the 2008 financial crisis, when he said: "You never want a serious crisis to go to waste."
