Virginia Rep. Jennifer Wexton (D-10) is calling on banks and credit card companies to monitor and flag gun purchases that may signal an individual is planning to carry out a mass shooting, the Times-Dispatch reports.

Wexton has introduced a bill that would instruct an agency of the Treasury Department to figure out a way to track gun purchases and look for patterns that would be of concern, similar to the way the government looks for patterns as evidence of money laundering and human trafficking.
