The FBI is in the porcess of reviewing allegations that Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) married her brother to help him get a green card and keep him in the United States.

According to The New York Post, the FBI met with a "concerned" person in October 2018 who brought forth documents showing Omar's marriage to Ahmed Nur Said Elmi in 2009. The agents then shared the information with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the U.S. Department of Education, although neither agency confirmed the existence of an actual investigation.

If Omar is guilty, she could be facing felony marriage fraud charges, which could incur up to five years in prison and a fine up to $250,000, the Post reports.
