A Harvard University law professor claims that homeschooling is a dangerous tool used to indoctrinate children with "extreme" ideologies like Christianity.

Harvard Law professor Elizabeth Bartholet sparked controversy last month when she called for a ban on homeschooling in the United States. Bartholet wrote in a Harvard Magazine article, entitled, "The Risks of Homeschooling," that the practice is dangerous because it allows parents to exercise "authoritarian control" of their children.

On Friday, in an interview with the Harvard Gazette, Bartholet reinforced her claims about the so-called dangers of homeschooling.

Bartholet said, "Conservative Christians wanted the chance to bring their children up with their values and belief systems and saw homeschooling as a way to escape from the secular education in public schools."

Christians homeschooling their kids presents the biggest problem, Bartholet says, because "many homeschooling parents are extreme ideologues, committed to raising their children within their belief systems isolated from any societal influence."
