A memorial dedicated to Holocaust survivors in a California cemetery was pushed over and broken into several pieces, JWeekly reports.

The memorial in northeast Santa Rosa, California, was a fountain created in honor of the late Lillian Judd and her husband Emil, both of whom were Holocaust survivors. According to the Times of Israel, Lillian regularly spoke to students in Sonoma County about the Holocaust.

A mosaic was also erected behind the fountain that bore the names of 12 family members killed in Nazi in concentration camps during World War II. Jews who came to visit the fountain used it for ritual cleanings.

Police are currently investigating the incident to determine if it was a hate crime.
