Richmond interim police chief William "Jody" Blackwell has stepped down from his post less than two weeks after he was appointed to take over for former police chief William Smith.

ABC 8News reports that a police spokesperson says Blackwell has left his post as interim chief, but gave no details on whether he resigned.

This comes just 11 days after Blackwell replaced Smith, who was forced out by Mayor Levar Stoney following back-to-back nights of incidents between Richmond police and violent protesters outside RPD headquarters on June 16.
