Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) and other Senate Democrats introduced a resolution condemning the use of terms such as "Chinese virus" and "Wuhan virus" to describe the coronavirus.

The resolution holds that the use of those terms has contributed to acts of violence and discrimination against Asian Americans over the past few months.

It specifically "calls on all public officials to condemn and denounce anti-Asian sentiment in any form," as well as "condemns all manifestations or expressions of racism, xenophobia, discrimination, anti-Asian sentiment, scapegoating, and ethnic or religious intolerance."
